2001: Completed the Pre-doctoral Program in Medical Sciences (Community Health Nursing) at Hiroshima University Graduate School.
2001: Appointed Lecturer and Associate Professor of Gerontological Nursing, and Professor of Basic Nursing at the Japanese Red Cross Hiroshima College of Nursing.
2009: Concurrently served as Chief Instructor for the Certified Nurse in Dysphagia Care Education Program at the same university.
2017: Awarded the Hiroshima Nightingale Award.
2018: Established and became representative of the POTT Project.
2019: Appointed Professor Emerita at the Japanese Red Cross Hiroshima College of Nursing.
2024: Appointed Chair of the Meal Care Group, Research Outcome Review Committee, Japan Academy of Nursing Science.

~Message from Professor Sakoda~
Eating is deeply related not only to sustaining life but also to the enjoyment and dignity of life. In this seminar, I will share essential care techniques and risk management to support the "joy of eating" in medical and nursing care settings, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The newly developed comprehensive choking risk assessment form can be objectively utilized by "anyone, anywhere, anytime" in a short period, such as during admission/discharge or home care. I hope this will be an opportunity to learn care techniques that will make future meals safer and richer.
