Upcycling Platform "3REs"
What is "3REs"?
3REs is an upcycling platform that connects apparel brands and artists, based on the concept of "rejuvenating discarded inventory with the power of artists."
By combining the perspective and expression of artists with products held by brands, 3REs aims to deliver upcycled products with new value, rather than ending up in discounts or disposal.
Brands can register products while keeping them in their own storage, and artists can propose upcycling ideas for the registered products. After a brand and artist are matched, they can discuss design details through a messaging function and proceed with preparations for listing on the 3REs online site or for pre-orders.
With this service launch, product registration, design proposals, matching, messaging functions, upcycled product production management, and sales management can all be performed on the platform, creating an environment where brands and artists can begin co-creation.
Main functions available with the service launch on May 12
With this service launch, both brands and artists can proceed from registration to proposals, matching, messaging, production management, and sales management all on the platform.
The main functions are as follows:
・Product registration/browsing function
Brands can register products eligible for upcycling, and artists can view registered products.
・Upcycling proposal function
Artists can propose design ideas and upcycling content for registered products.
・Messaging function
Brands and artists can communicate about design details and production through the platform's messaging function.
・My Page function
Applications for listing on the 3REs online site, progress confirmation for pre-orders, production management after sales are established, and sales management can all be done on My Page.
This allows brands to proceed with upcycling projects while keeping products in their own storage, and artists to engage in proposals and production utilizing brand products.
Challenges faced by the apparel industry: "Oversupply" and "Maintaining brand value"
The domestic apparel market continues to face a structural problem where supply exceeds market size, making excess inventory prone to occur. It is also estimated that approximately 1,300 tons of apparel products are incinerated or landfilled per day. Regarding inventory, it often leads to disposal through discounting or low-price sales, which carries the risk of diminishing the original value of the product and brand image. *1
Products that are discarded without being utilized also pose an environmental burden. As one option to solve these issues, 3REs will develop a mechanism to connect inventory to new value while protecting brand value, rather than simply disposing of it.

Background of 3REs' creation
3REs was born out of the search for ways to connect unsold products to new value, rather than ending in discounts or disposal, against the backdrop of the mass production and mass disposal issues in the apparel industry.
By combining the perspective and expression of artists with products that brands have cherished, 3REs aims to redeliver inventory as products with new value. 3REs aims to be a new option for inventory utilization for brands, and a place for artists to gain new opportunities for expression and build their portfolio.
The name "3REs" embodies three meanings: Reborn, Reversal, and Reassess.
