"Eliminate food allergies and provide the joy of eating to all children."
This is the mission of B-CASE Inc.
Daily meals not only build our bodies but also serve as time for communication. However, for children with food allergies and their families, there are many situations where eating "the same thing as everyone else" is difficult.
Our developed product, "Child Cup Tamago," is a food to gradually get used to eggs. It is made with safety in mind, based on research data from the National Center for Child Health and Development. We want to support the diet of children and their families with a powdered egg that can be easily incorporated into any household without strain—this is the sentiment embedded in this product.
Giving Form to the Hopes Entrusted by Doctors. Five Retired Individuals Gather.
Our representative, Teruaki Ima, had been visiting the National Center for Child Health and Development since his days at a pharmaceutical company. The National Center for Child Health and Development is a leading national institution in Japan specializing in pediatric medicine and perinatal women, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. When he informed the doctors of his retirement, he received an unexpected request.
"Please make powdered eggs." "Please start a company to do that."
The National Center for Child Health and Development had announced research findings suggesting that infants consuming small amounts of heated whole egg could lead to the prevention of chicken egg allergy development. However, preparing the prescribed amount of boiled eggs daily at home is time-consuming. While the need for an easily usable product was felt, development within a research facility was difficult, and a company that could give form to this aspiration was sought.
Accepting this proposal, B-CASE was established in 2022. We began a new journey with colleagues from pharmaceutical-related companies who agreed with the goal of "reducing children's allergies." The five members who gathered are all individuals who had retired from their previous companies, thus giving birth to a startup with an average age of 70 as of 2026.
Gaining Traction from "Customers' Direct Voices," Seen for the First Time in Our Company Careers
Although the members had extensive experience in large corporations, this was their first time searching for manufacturing plants and sales channels, and handling procedures with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, public health centers, etc. Furthermore, the concept of "consuming small amounts of eggs" had not yet permeated the general public.
None of the members had any experience using social media. While struggling with advertising and information dissemination to broaden awareness, they spurred themselves on, thinking, "Since there are only five of us, everyone has to do everything."
During our time at pharmaceutical companies, our negotiation partners were mainly doctors and corporations, and we had no opportunities to interact directly with users. However, by seeing reviews on e-commerce sites, we began to feel enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment from hearing customers' direct voices.
Just Mix into Baby Food. The First Step Towards Eggs Without Cooking Hassle.
Under the guidance of doctors at the National Center for Child Health and Development, we first developed "Mil Step Egg" for medical institutions. Purchasing Mil Step Egg requires doctor's guidance on intake. Based on Mil Step Egg 1, which has the lowest protein content among the three lineups, the general-purpose Child Cup Tamago was commercialized.
The biggest feature of Child Cup Tamago is that it is simpler and less troublesome than using actual eggs. Originally, to get used to eggs, one starts with a "ear-pick" amount of hard-boiled egg, but this involves many steps such as boiling, pureeing, measuring, and storing. Child Cup Tamago uses powdered whole egg in single-use packs, which alleviates these burdens.
Users have also provided feedback such as, "It's easy to use because it's portioned into 1-gram packets," "I'm freed from the hassle of boiling eggs for just an ear-pick amount," and "I was afraid to use eggs myself, so I'm happy there's a dedicated product."
The usage is very simple: just sprinkle it on prepared baby food or mix it in. Starting with plain rice porridge is recommended for easier introduction.
We Want to Spread the Latest Allergy Theory for the Joy of Children Eating
The "Dual Allergen Exposure Hypothesis" regarding the mechanisms of allergy onset and prevention was announced in 2008. Its content is that "when allergens enter through the skin in a state where the skin's barrier function is compromised, allergies are more likely to occur. On the other hand, early oral intake of allergens can reduce the risk of allergy development."
The Dual Allergen Exposure Hypothesis has been verified in various countries worldwide and is now becoming the mainstream way of thinking about food allergies. Child Cup Tamago is also a product based on this theory.
B-CASE also focuses on the skin barrier function aspect of the Dual Allergen Exposure Hypothesis and has developed the moisturizing agent "Child Care Skin Milk." Newborns' skin barrier function is less than half that of adults, so based on advice from specialists, we succeeded in enhancing moisturizing power through a unique manufacturing process, excluding unnecessary ingredients (surfactants, fragrances, preservatives, etc.). Furthermore, it is packaged in single-use pouches for easy measurement and portability.
In addition, we have already started selling "Child Cup Egg White," a product containing only egg white. We are also advancing plans to commercialize "Mil Step Walnut," a product for medical institutions, for general consumers. Data shows that nut allergies have strong reactions and occur more frequently than chicken egg allergies.
B-CASE aims for more than just selling products. We aim to spread the "Dual Allergen Exposure Hypothesis" itself and the concept of gradually getting used to allergens from small amounts.
We want to reduce children's allergies and create a future where everyone can enjoy the same meals at the same table. And we want everyone to feel the joy of eating together—this is the foundation of our company.
