Announcement of Trial Introduction of Replay Review

The professional baseball independent league, Route Inn BC League (Baseball Challenge League), has decided to trial replay review in its official games for the 2026 season, as announced below. [Background of Trial Introduction of Replay Review] With the recent advancements in video technology, we believe it is our responsibility to ensure accurate rulings even in complex plays, thereby enhancing the league's overall credibility and guaranteeing fair game operations for fans, both teams, and all stakeholders. For these reasons, we have decided to introduce replay review, albeit in a limited capacity, with the aim of improving the league's overall appeal and reducing the burden on umpires. [Introduction Overview] ■Target Games: Three home games hosted by each team from the opening day until June 28 (27 games across the league). ■Target Plays: Only plays at first base (excluding those based on umpire judgment such as obstruction). ■Operation for this season: After June 28, a review of the trial games will be conducted, and operational methods from July 17 onwards will be reconsidered. *The Route Inn BC League will continue to strive for high-level game operations by challenging to further enhance transparency and fairness and improve the appeal of baseball.
