2025 Net Fraud Report: Securities-Related Phishing Surges by Approximately 960 Times YoY

BBSS Corporation has released its annual Internet Fraud Report for 2025. Driven by the new NISA program, phishing attacks targeting securities accounts increased dramatically by roughly 960 times compared to the previous year, with total fraudulent transactions exceeding 700 billion yen. Over 80% of internet fraud involves fake e-commerce sites. Web services, particularly those targeting Apple IDs, remained the top phishing category at 26%. Total detected malicious sites by 'Miyabull' reached over 145 million, a 43% increase. The report warns of increasingly sophisticated scams utilizing generative AI.
