Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), operated by BAYCREW'S GROUP (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masayoshi Furumine), has launched a special collaboration capsule collection with Ryohei Kaneda (YES).
At the core of this collaboration are over 10 graphic artworks that reinterpret and reconstruct the PSG emblem from a unique perspective. Through the hands of Mr. Kaneda—who has spun naive yet edgy visual languages at the forefront of the cultural scene for brands and events such as NIKE, THE NORTH FACE, RIP SLYME, and Asagiri JAM—the club's identity has been elevated from a mere "symbol" into a wearable "art piece."
[Product Insight]
The main product, the MA-1 jacket, is a piece where the toughness of authentic military wear coexists with a contemporary maison sensibility.
• Silhouette: A wide silhouette with boldly oversized armholes. The bunching at the sleeves creates a heavy, street-specific presence and a relaxed, "mature ease." • Ribbing: We intentionally adopted thick, prominent ribbing for the hem and cuffs. By emphasizing these classic details, we have given the piece a powerful character that stands apart from recent trends in minimalism. • Zip: The front is adorned with a silver IDEAL zipper that emits a dull luster. It adds a sophisticated shine to the heavy body, ensuring a luxurious texture. • Artwork: The intricate embroidery on the back, chest, and sleeves traces the path of Mr. Kaneda’s reconstruction. The balance, which feels strangely harmonious despite the use of multiple colors, is the true essence of a graphic magician.
[Creative Concept]
"The creative inspiration came from the affinity between the PSG 'emblem' and the Japanese 'kamon' (family crest). Based on the atmosphere of Tokyo and the imagery connecting Japan and France, I composed symbolic and minimalist artwork. I aimed for an elegant finish through the pleasant rhythm created by the orderly arrangement. Furthermore, I paid close attention to every detail, including the texture of the fabric, the colors, and the silhouette, to infuse the mood of the artwork into the entire product."
This project strips away unnecessary production and decoration, focusing on the "intrinsic strength of clothing." Aimed at the sensibilities of adults, it proposes a style that is not overly pretentious, has a sense of effortlessness, and captures the current atmosphere of Tokyo.
By not setting too many constraints, the creator's perspective—purely pursuing "good things"—has breathed a new "warmth" into the massive icon that is PSG.
While blending into the scenery of daily life, it makes its distinctiveness undeniable at a single glance.
PSG × Ryohei Kaneda. This is not merely apparel; it is a record of ongoing street culture.
