BASF Agro Solutions Division Launches New Mode of Action Fungicide "Pavinco® Flowable"

BASF Japan Ltd., headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, with Hasibi Zeidam as Representative Director and President, released the new fungicide "Pavinco® Flowable" on April 13, 2026. The product contains Pavecto® (chemical name: methyltetrapole) as its active ingredient. BASF is introducing this product across Japan, excluding Hokkaido, as the world's first agricultural fungicide to utilize Pavecto®. Pavecto® is uniquely classified under the new FRAC subgroup "11A" by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC). It has been confirmed to exhibit no cross-resistance with fungicides belonging to existing Group 11, making it a significant tool for resistance management. "Pavinco® Flowable" is currently registered in Japan for tea, apple, and sugar beet cultivation. For tea, it provides excellent control against major diseases such as anthracnose, ring spot disease, and dieback of new shoots, for which existing agents have shown reduced sensitivity. This is expected to significantly contribute to tea production in Japan, a globally recognized high-quality tea producing region, especially as pest and disease management becomes more critical due to climate change.
