Bankaku Sohonpo was founded in 1889 (Meiji 22) in Yokosuka (current Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture), taking its name from the first and last name of its founder, Kakujiro Ban. Centered around 'Yukari', a shrimp cracker created through creative ingenuity based on 'Ebi Hanpei' that was presented to the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period, the company crafts sweets that make the most of nature's bounty.
