Certified NPO AYA (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) achieved a total of 200 events hosted as of Sunday, April 19, 2026. AYA aims to eliminate "experience disparities" by holding events where children with illnesses and disabilities, including those with medical care needs, and their families can safely enjoy movie screenings, sports viewing, and more. Thanks to the support of many people, we have reached this significant milestone in approximately 4 years and 3 months since our activities began in January 2022, and we express our heartfelt gratitude. Representative Director Yuki Nakagawa commented, "We will pioneer a future where children can be excited, no matter where they are or what their circumstances."
The Significance of AYA's Events and the Journey to "200 Times"
AYA was established as a voluntary organization in January 2022. Subsequently, after becoming incorporated in 2023, it was certified as a Certified NPO in February 2026.
AYA's mission is to "provide opportunities for children with medical care needs and disabilities and their families to broaden their worldview through sports, arts, and culture." Surveys have revealed that children with medical care needs, disabilities, and rare diseases have extremely limited opportunities to go out with their families. To resolve this "experience disparity," AYA is engaged in activities that deliver "experiences" to children and their families.
A representative initiative is the "AYA Inclusive Cinema Screening." The characteristic of this screening is that the entire movie theater is chartered, and medical professionals such as doctors and nurses are always present. This creates an environment where families can enjoy movies with peace of mind, even if "the child cannot sit still," "suddenly makes a sound," or "medical equipment alarms or suction sounds go off." So far, seven consecutive screenings have been held, achieving screenings in all 47 prefectures in February 2026. From April 5, the eighth consecutive screening (32 venues nationwide) is being held.
In addition, AYA has delivered various other "experiences," such as planetarium visits, sports game viewing, course meals, and music appreciation. On April 19, the total number of events reached 200 with the "AYA Inclusive Cinema Screening" held at five venues nationwide. The total number of participants has exceeded 25,000.

Program to travel to the United States and watch an NBA game was also implemented (March 2026)
AYA is currently accelerating its efforts to establish "Inclusive Cinema Day" in May 2027. This is a major challenge to simultaneously hold AYA Inclusive Cinema Screenings in all 47 prefectures nationwide and share the value of "experience" with children and families across the country. We are also working on academic verification of how the experience of watching movies affects children and their families. We kindly ask for your continued warm support for AYA.
Comment from Representative Director Yuki Nakagawa: "With the power of 200 'I did it!' moments, to a new phase."
Certified NPO AYA has now achieved "200" events hosted. We sincerely thank everyone for their daily support, without which we could not have reached this significant milestone. We are truly grateful.
This number "200" represents 200 accumulations of courage, where families who had given up on "going to the cinema" or felt "it's difficult to go out with family" due to medical care needs or disabilities took a step forward. We are proud to have shared "experiences" such as "watching a movie with a popcorn basket of their favorite character" and "cheering for a professional sports game up close" with over 25,000 participants.
The reality that many children and families face "experience disparities" remains unchanged. While over 90% of families wish to go out, only a little over 10% can do so without anxiety. To change this situation, AYA is moving into a new phase. Based on the voices of those involved gained from 200 events and accumulated academic knowledge, we will take on the challenge of "updating society as a whole" and "pioneer a future where children can be excited, no matter where they are or what their circumstances."
Our challenge has just begun. AYA will continue to walk alongside children and their families. We kindly ask for your continued support in various forms, such as donations, volunteering, and partnerships.
