First Little Penguin Born at Adventure World in Wakayama on May 29, 2026

Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama, announced the birth of a Little Penguin chick on May 29, 2026, marking the park's first successful breeding of the species and completion of breeding for all 8 penguin species kept. The chick hatched after a 36-day incubation period from an egg laid on April 24, 2026, weighing 37.2g at birth with gender currently unknown (DNA testing planned in one year). The parents were both hatched at Adventure World via fertilized egg transfer. The chick will be on public display on the 1st floor of Penguin Base starting June 6, 2026, from opening until 5:00 PM. A 24-hour live camera feed showing the chick's growth will also stream on the park's official YouTube channel starting June 6 at 10:00 AM. Little Penguins are the world's smallest penguin species, measuring 30 to 45 cm and weighing about 1 kg. Adventure World currently houses 6 Little Penguins.
