For this second phase, we welcome Kenta Cobayashi, who develops unique visual expressions across photography, video, and digital media, centering mainly around the newly opened "MASUNAGA1905 Yaesu Store".
At the Yaesu store, Cobayashi's artwork will be installed at the store entrance, serving as a visual gateway to welcome visitors, and artworks will also be exhibited inside the store. Furthermore, two types of limited-edition lens cloths created for this collaboration will be distributed at directly-managed stores nationwide starting Friday, April 17.
Driven by the founding belief of "making good glasses," Masunaga Optical has inherited sincere craftsmanship for 120 years. By overlapping this manufacturing stance with the creativity of contemporary artists, this project creates encounters with new discoveries and aesthetics in everyday life.
Artist Kenta Cobayashi, who questions the premise of "seeing" by dismantling and reconstructing meaningful landscapes, and Masunaga Optical, which has produced "products of vision" for 120 years. The intersection of their differing approaches will traverse multiple layers such as products, spaces, and videos, bringing a new layer of interpretation to visual experiences.
Moreover, the MASUNAGA1905 Shinsaibashi Store will also open the following week on Saturday, April 25, marking two consecutive weeks of new store rollouts.
