AVEVA K.K. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, VP & Japan Lead: Masaharu Sasaki, hereinafter referred to as AVEVA), the Japanese subsidiary of UK-based AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software driving DX and sustainability, announced today that it has strengthened its strategic partnership with the Ship & Offshore Structure Division of the Energy Solution & Marine Company of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Executive Officer/Division General Manager: Takamasa Ogino, hereinafter referred to as Kawasaki Heavy Industries) to jointly promote the optimization and advancement of its design systems. Based on this agreement, a comprehensive supply contract has been signed for the introduction of 'AVEVA Marine' and 'AVEVA Unified Engineering' to Kawasaki Heavy Industries' own factories.

Background and Specific Details of the Partnership:

In the shipbuilding and marine industry, which faces severe labor shortages while design requirements become increasingly complex due to factors like decarbonization, transforming the design process is an unavoidable challenge. To solve this challenge, the two companies have strengthened their strategic partnership, using the contract signing late last year as an opportunity to accelerate efforts toward the introduction of the next-generation design system, AVEVA Unified Engineering.

As a specific initiative, in the outfitting field, we will first proceed with the introduction of the 'Engineering Module' which handles '1D/2D/3D'. By seamlessly integrating document information such as design specifications (1D), layout and schematic drawing information (2D), and model information for spatial design (3D), it will build a 'digital twin' foundation that manages everything consistently from design to manufacturing.

Next, in the hull field, we will introduce the 'E3D Module', the latest hull CAD system with revamped functions. By fully establishing a database for hull information, it maximizes the potential for data utilization from upstream design to production design.

In implementing these systems, we will fully utilize the 'AVEVA Marine Center of Excellence' in Busan, South Korea. Particularly in advancing the detailed and production design functions for items like Brackets, which are crucial for hull design, we are directly reflecting our practical knowledge into the development process, being deeply involved in the functional development itself. Through direct feedback from the frontline via this 'Voice Of Customer (VOC)' program, we are powerfully promoting the development of a practical next-generation design system that aligns with real-world requirements.

Takamasa Ogino, Executive Officer and General Manager of the Ship & Offshore Structure Division at Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., stated as follows:

'With the introduction of this solution, we expect our marine design environment to become even more advanced, accelerating innovation across the entire process. Through this partnership between our two companies, we will present a new paradigm to the shipbuilding and marine industry.'

Chris Lee, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific at AVEVA, and Masaharu Sasaki, Japan Lead, stated as follows:

Chris Lee: 'AVEVA and Kawasaki Heavy Industries have collaborated at the forefront of digital shipbuilding for over 30 years. This initiative, based on AVEVA's design solutions, supports the entire value chain of the shipbuilding and marine sector, empowering customers to achieve further efficiency and sustainability throughout their asset lifecycle.'

Masaharu Sasaki: 'Japan is a critical market with world-class technological prowess and a proven track record in shipbuilding and marine engineering. This initiative is a crucial step towards fundamentally digitalizing the design process in both outfitting and hull fields, laying the foundation for next-generation manufacturing. We are proud that this globally cutting-edge initiative has started in Japan. In the Asian market, where countries compete fiercely in shipbuilding volume, Japan is demonstrating particularly outstanding progress in the digital transformation of the design field, and this initiative will further accelerate that trend. AVEVA will continue to work closely with the Japanese market, supporting industrial evolution through the latest technologies and insights.'
