Authense Legal Firm (Authense Law Office / Minato-ku, Tokyo) is a firm with the brand slogan "Focus on Emotions," dedicated to solving problems by staying close to people's feelings, not just legal solutions.
Authense Legal Firm, which values both legal solutions and emotional solutions, is pleased to announce a webinar where its group company, Authense Patent Attorneys Corporation, will serve as the lecturer.
This webinar focuses on individuals in intellectual property (IP) and legal departments who wish to further utilize the design system and incorporate IP utilization into their daily operations. Mr. Naohiro Matsuda from Kaijirushi Co., Ltd., who has led IP strategy at the forefront, and Mr. Masaaki Toyama, a patent attorney formerly in charge of design examination at the Japan Patent Office and now affiliated with Authense Patent Attorneys Corporation, will be speaking.
There is Practice That Overturns the Assumption That "the IP Department is a Defensive Department"
Sales representatives talk about their company's patents in negotiations, the thoughts of designers in design applications remain in official documents, and marketers can launch aggressive PR campaigns. This is because the IP department provides the backing with a basis for "how far we can go."
Some companies are already practicing this ideal form of an IP department.
Kaijirushi Co., Ltd.'s IP and Legal Affairs Headquarters has not only handled patents, designs, and trademarks but also broadly addressed advertising regulations such as the Premiums and Representations Act and the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act, utilizing IP as an "offensive" weapon in conjunction with management, legal affairs, and design.
In many companies, the IP department is positioned as a "department that prevents risks." Checking contracts, managing patent applications, and responding to infringement notices from other companies are all important tasks. On the other hand, there are often voices from the field saying, "We were stopped by the IP department again," or "We don't get positive answers when we consult them."
However, when IP functions as an "offensive" tool and collaborates with sales, marketing, and design departments, it can directly contribute to maximizing product value and business growth.
Providing information that addresses the "vagueness" felt by the field, and a proposal style that converts patent specifications into PR points. The "realization of profit" gained from accumulating such efforts creates an atmosphere within the company where "if the IP department says so, let's listen."
This webinar will provide a concrete introduction to the practices of transformation over the past seven years, aimed at those who are concerned about further utilization of the design system, the establishment of IP utilization in daily operations, and the improvement of trust in IP within the company.
How has it connected with management, legal affairs, and design, and how has trust within the company been built? How are the design system and "common-sense" IP landscapes incorporated into daily operations? Why can we expand our reach into seemingly unusual peripheral fields of intellectual property?
Mr. Naohiro Matsuda of Kaijirushi Co., Ltd., who has led these efforts at the forefront, and Mr. Masaaki Toyama, a patent attorney at Authense Patent Attorneys Corporation who served as a design examiner at the Japan Patent Office, will explain the entire scope.
