Danish lifestyle brand Audo Copenhagen has unveiled 'The Grand Café' at the ongoing Salone del Mobile 2026 in Milan, Italy.
An immersive architectural space reinterpreting the spirit of the Italian social salon, this installation embodies Audo's brand concept of 'a place where people meet' and has been visited by more than 15,000 people.
Designed by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, co-founder of the renowned Copenhagen-based design collective Norm Architects, in collaboration with Art Director Christian Møller Andersen, this 460-square-meter space draws inspiration from Italian historicism and the geometric order of 1930s modernism. Soaring columns guide guests through various spaces where harmony of rhythm, proportion, and materials creates Audo’s signature atmosphere—serene yet warm.
'The Grand Café' consists of lounge and café areas, unified by a 'Soft Minimalism' tone across more than 60 products forming each space. Visitors can experience all products firsthand, feeling the sense of 'gathering' while enjoying drinks.
Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, co-founder of Norm Architects, comments:
'In "The Grand Café," we wanted to create a space that is both grand and intimate—a place where people naturally gather and connect. By incorporating the language and scale of Italian historicism and early modernism, we place Audo’s collection within an architectural experience.'
Joachim Kornbek Engell-Hansen, Design & Brand Director at Audo, says:
'At Audo, we believe design is best understood within a space. In "The Grand Café," we present products not as isolated objects, but as part of a lived-in environment. It embodies our ongoing exploration of hospitality, tactile comfort, and human connection.'
With roots in Copenhagen and a global perspective, Audo Copenhagen creates new environments through a dialogue between tradition and contemporary design. 'The Grand Café' at Salone del Mobile expresses Audo’s identity as a brand that designs spaces, not just products.
Design for connection.
This is where we meet.
