Audemars Piguet Unveils Final Model of Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin (RD#2)

Audemars Piguet announced on July 1, 2026, the final model of the 41mm "Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin (RD#2)", marking the last chapter of a reference that has been significant in the manufacture's recent history. Equipped with the patented Caliber 5133, this model laid the foundation for a new generation of ultra-thin watches at Audemars Piguet.

This final model features a satin-finished titanium case and bracelet, combined with polished Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG) for the bezel, case back, and bracelet studs. BMG, first introduced in 2021, is a material primarily used in the semiconductor and golf industries. From hundreds of metallic glasses, Audemars Piguet co-developed its own palladium-based alloy, which is characterized by its high wear and corrosion resistance, as well as its excellent luster when polished. This sophisticated finish extends to the sunburst dial, where the pink gold hue creates a beautiful contrast with the luminescent-coated white gold hands and hour markers.

Caliber 5133 was first unveiled as a prototype in 2018 and joined the "Royal Oak" collection in 2019. At the time of its announcement, it was the world's thinnest perpetual calendar movement, measuring only 2.9mm in thickness, 32mm in diameter, and composed of 256 parts.

With the unveiling of this final model, Audemars Piguet bids farewell to the "Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin (RD#2)" while paying homage to its long history of ultra-thin calendar watches. This model embodies the technical research, material exploration, and aesthetic refinement cultivated within the collection.

The pink gold-colored sunburst dial and counters are paired with silver-grey-toned 18K pink gold hour markers and luminescent-coated 18K white gold hands. The movement can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back. A rhodium-toned rotor harmonizes with the case.
