[Event Report] Providing an experience where scrap materials turn into 'value'. Families enthusiastic about workshops at the 8th-anniversary event of renovation building 'Americaya'!

On the day of the event, in collaboration with Nippon Mtex Co., Ltd., we held a plastering experience using 'NURU DENIM', a plastering material upcycled from denim scraps, and a signboard making workshop utilizing building material scraps. The event was bustling with many visitors, including local families, making it a day to experience sustainable activities from familiar surroundings. ■ An experience where 'things that were supposed to be thrown away' create new value The highlight of this event was the workshops using scrap materials. In the plastering experience using 'NURU DENIM' from Nippon Mtex Co., Ltd., children holding a trowel for the first time seriously took on the challenge of painting walls. Many people were surprised by the plastering material, which blends denim scraps that would originally be discarded, combining a unique texture with environmental performance. In addition, making original signboards using scrap building materials (boards) was also well-received, sharing the experience of transforming 'scrap materials = valuable things' from a creative perspective. ■ Comments from the persons in charge ⚫︎ Mr. Shinya Okamoto, Area Manager, Sales Development Department, Nippon Mtex Co., Ltd. 'Although 90% of the participants were experiencing plastering for the first time, parents were able to enjoy it together with their children. When we told them that it was a plastering material made from denim scraps, they raised their voices in surprise, and we felt a great response, receiving comments that they actually wanted to use it in their own homes. In addition to the scrap material workshop, this time we also prepared opportunities to learn about SDGs from familiar things, such as a smartphone charging service using solar panels.
