[Seminar Announcement] Fuel Policy During the Transition Toward a Decarbonized Society

The Asian Clean Fuels Association* (ACFA), a non-profit organization promoting air quality improvement and decarbonization through the supply of clean and efficient fuels, will hold a seminar on Tuesday, April 21, in Akasaka, Tokyo, focusing on international trends in biofuels and the direction of fuel policy.

As the transition toward decarbonization progresses, Japan is currently considering a shift to high-concentration biofuels (E10/E20), necessitating a comprehensive examination of how future fuel policies should be implemented.

In this seminar, the first to be hosted by our organization in Japan, we will address how the use of oxygenated compounds (ethers, ethanol, etc.) and differences in fuel properties (volatility, octane, composition, etc.) impact exhaust emissions, public health, the environment, gasoline prices, and engine performance. We have invited experts from overseas who are involved in policy formation and technical development in their respective countries. Based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) vehicle emission estimation model "MOVES (Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator)," gasoline lifecycle analysis (LCA), and actual fuel data, we will conduct data-driven discussions and explain the latest international insights regarding land and marine biofuel policies.

Additionally, a networking session will be held after the seminar to allow participants to exchange information. This will be a valuable opportunity to gain a broad perspective on the future of fuel policy, and we look forward to your participation.
