Obayashi Corporation to Standardize Use of 'High-Place Vehicle Management' and 'Keyless System' Across All Sites

Asahi Kousan Co., Ltd. (President: Tominori Yoshida) announces that Obayashi Corporation (Representative Director, President & CEO: Toshimi Sato), a major client, has decided to standardize the use of its construction site management service, Ichi-Plus® 'High-Place Vehicle Management' and 'Keyless System', across all sites for the purposes of safety management and operational efficiency.

Obayashi Corporation has promoted a DX strategy under its 'Obayashi Group Medium-Term Management Plan 2022', advancing company-wide digital transformation through system streamlining, data infrastructure development, and automation and labor reduction in operations. The company has independently selected and rigorously tested technologies with potential to transform on-site operations.

Asahi Kousan’s Ichi-Plus 'High-Place Vehicle Management' and 'Keyless System' were selected as a verification target technology by Obayashi in 2021 and have since been adopted in a cumulative total of 25 sites over five years. Post-verification interviews within Obayashi confirmed improvements in productivity. Specifically, staff workload was reduced by approximately 50%, and high-place vehicle rental costs decreased by about 20%, demonstrating significant productivity gains. In addition, the adoption of the 'Keyless System' was highly evaluated for enabling digital key distribution exclusively to reserved subcontractors and ensuring mandatory pre-use digital inspections, thereby enhancing safety. Based on these results, Obayashi decided to standardize the system company-wide.

Starting April 2026, Obayashi will implement the 'High-Place Vehicle Management' and 'Keyless System' as standard across all construction and civil engineering sites that operate a certain number of high-place work vehicles. Asahi Kousan will provide nationwide support for app and hardware deployment, as well as training for subcontractors, to further support Obayashi’s productivity improvements.

Going forward, Asahi Kousan will continue to improve its services based on feedback from Obayashi and other customers, leveraging the Ichi-Plus® series to address common challenges in the construction industry, such as site efficiency and productivity, contributing to the advancement of construction DX.

Overview of the Ichi-Plus® Series

The Ichi-Plus® series is a productivity-enhancing tool designed for construction site management tasks where location data is beneficial. Currently, the series includes four applications: 'High-Place Vehicle Management', 'Rental Item Management', 'Progress Management', and 'Ichi-Plus Search'. 'High-Place Vehicle Management' and 'Rental Item Management' not only visualize the location of temporary equipment and materials but also assist site staff and subcontractors in construction management, enabling productivity improvements including cost reduction.

To date, the series has been adopted by over 60 companies, including five major general contractors, across approximately 1,000 construction sites, demonstrating widespread deployment and continuous evolution.

● Ichi-Plus® 'High-Place Vehicle Management'

This application enables reservation coordination and location tracking of all high-place vehicles used on-site via a mobile app. By linking vehicles to subcontractors, it reduces manual reservation tasks. It also allows billing based on usage duration and clarifies responsibility in case of damage through reservation logs. When used with the optional 'Keyless System', digital unlocking and locking eliminate the need for physical key handovers, preventing loss and streamlining complex key management.

● Ichi-Plus® 'Keyless System'

An optional system that attaches a dedicated device to the key mechanism of high-place work vehicles, enabling digital key integration with the High-Place Vehicle Management app. It eliminates the burden of manual key management and troubleshooting in case of loss. Unlock/lock records automatically visualize utilization rates, aiding rental cost reduction. Digital keys are issued only to reserved subcontractors, ensuring user identification and restriction. Mandatory pre-use digital inspections can also be enforced, enhancing safety.
