The Asahi Shimbun Company (Representative Director and CEO: Katsu Tsunoda) will renew its morning and evening editions as part of a newspaper reform effective April 1st. The morning edition will feature new projects leveraging our global and domestic reporting networks, while the evening edition will introduce tie-up projects within the Asahi Shimbun Group, such as 'Match and Town Chinese,' currently serialized in AERA STYLE MAGAZINE. The 'be' supplement, previously delivered as a separate Saturday insert, will now be integrated into the morning edition. New content includes Natsuo Kirino's serialized novel 'Rakuen' (Paradise) and a collaborative project with readers titled 'Reader and Reporter be Meeting.' We look forward to your continued support for the new Asahi Shimbun and 'be.' Image of the renewed newspaper layout

New projects in the morning edition leveraging our reporting network On the third Thursday of every month, the morning edition will launch the 'GLOBAL HEALTH' section, which delves into global health issues. We will report from the front lines of the world on topics such as infectious diseases spreading across borders and the health impacts of climate change.

In the regional section, we will begin a new bi-monthly project titled 'Exploring the 47 Prefectures through Data.' By analyzing data related to daily life, we will highlight the unique characteristics of each region. The first installment will examine the differences in water utility rates by prefecture and the background behind them. Subsequent issues will cover topics such as the 'local university enrollment rate'—the percentage of university-bound students who choose local institutions—and common surnames in each prefecture.
