Exhibition Overview

For the 18th exhibition at 'Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8-pun', which combines an art gallery and a bakery & cafe, artist Lotta's new solo exhibition 'Utopia' will commence on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

In this exhibition, alongside self-portraits projecting the character 'Socks', which artist Lotta continues to draw, a collection of works with rich storytelling will be presented.

The title of this exhibition, 'Utopia', signifies an ideal land, a dream-like world, and the 'concept of happiness' that people constantly pursue. New works expressing this 'Utopia' through artist Lotta's unique perspective and colors will be showcased.

The venue will be gently draped in Lotta's worldview, inviting visitors in. When touching the artist's sensibility overflowing from the canvas and spreading throughout the entire space, an 'ideal land' detached from everyday life emerges.

Exhibition Statement

My Utopia: A place that is dimly lit rather than bright, warm rather than cold. Silence rather than noise. In the forest, in a bamboo grove (with the sound of the wind and birds. Fewer insects).

Spring nights before I had hay fever. That summer night from back then. Ha Long Bay.

When surrounded by the scent of damp earth, fig leaves, jasmine, and coffee.

Cluttered paint cans entering the corner of my vision. Graffiti-covered concrete walls, back alleys.

The crackling sound coming from a record, the white noise of a rainy day listened to indoors.

What I've listed here are things, places, or parts of memories that calm me down; in short, things that make my life happy.

They all exist in reality, and they might not matter to anyone else.

But add a little element of 'dream' to that, and it becomes my very own utopia.

There might be a completely unmotivated ghost drifting by, cat-ear shaped mushrooms growing, or a vase that occasionally winks at you...

At this rate, my personal utopia will surely continue to expand in the future.

And if possible, I hope to continue inviting many people to that place.

Just like today, at this time, how you have visited my utopia like this.
