Contemporary Art Exhibition 'New Media / New Technology / New Artist' Tours from Artist Cafe Fukuoka to HOTEL ANTEROOM SEOUL

ArtFanders Inc. (Headquarters: Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture; CEO: Riho Yoshida), in co-sponsorship with Artist Cafe Fukuoka, will hold the contemporary art exhibition 'New Media / New Technology / New Artist' starting Saturday, May 23, 2026. This exhibition introduces the practices of five artists who traverse multiple technologies and media, including Generative AI, VR, 3DCG, NFTs, algorithms, and interactive media. Starting with the exhibition in Fukuoka, it will travel to HOTEL ANTEROOM SEOUL in South Korea in August 2026, questioning the current landscape of contemporary art regarding new media and technology in the Asian region.

## Curatorial Intent

Just as the invention of photography expanded human perception and the emergence of the internet rewrote the very structure of society, recent technologies like Generative AI, VR, NFTs, and interactive media are fundamentally updating the conditions of expression. The word 'New' in the title of this exhibition does not merely mean the novelty of technology. We believe it is about changing the way we see the world and shaking up existing institutions and values.

The participating artists in this exhibition are Takakurakazuki, Kenta Cobayashi, Ao Ito, Namae Myoji, and Shunsuke Saiki.
Through reinterpretations of Eastern philosophy, questioning the materiality of images via digital processing, fusing mathematical algorithms with artistic expression, narrative experiments surrounding body, sexuality, and identity, and installations about VR and the perception of landscapes—each artist explores the relationships between the digital and the real, body and information, memory and image, and the individual and society while using different media and methodologies.

In this exhibition, technology is viewed not as a 'convenient tool,' but as a medium that transforms perception, body, memory, communication, and value generation. Artists are no longer entities that unilaterally create artworks; they are transforming into existences that generate meaning alongside data, systems, viewers, cities, and cultural networks. In an era where technological updates have become an everyday occurrence, what is 'New', and how will the contours of contemporary artists be updated? This exhibition is an attempt to present this question through the exhibition space.

## Participating Artists

- Takakurakazuki
Artist / Born in 1987. Completed his master's degree at Tokyo Zokei University. Using digital expressions such as video games, pixel art, VR, NFTs, and AI, he creates works themed on rewriting the rules of contemporary art based on Eastern philosophies like Buddhism, pursuing new values for digital data, and exploring the aesthetics of character variations. Major exhibitions include the GINZA SIX Entrance Exhibition 'Hyperman Van Gogh O' (2025), planning/exhibiting at BUG 'Character Matrix' (2024), and a solo exhibition 'Mechareal' at the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art (2023). Other exhibitions include those at the Ashikaga Museum of Art, SusHi Tech Square, NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], a solo show in Taipei, and exhibitions in NY and Mexico.

- Kenta Cobayashi
Born in 1992 in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Graduated with a major in painting from Tokyo Zokei University in 2015. Currently based in Tokyo. From 2015 to the present, he has participated in numerous domestic and international group and solo exhibitions in the fields of contemporary photography and art. Major solo exhibitions include '#copycat' at WAITINGROOM (Tokyo, 2025) and 'THE PASTEXISTS' at Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery (Tokyo, 2022). Major group exhibitions include 'COMING OF AGE' at Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris, 2022) and 'Hello World' at Art Tower Mito (Mito, 2018). In 2019, he collaborated with dunhill, led by Mark Weston, and worked on a Louis Vuitton campaign led by Virgil Abloh.

- Ao Ito
Born in Fukuoka in 2012. A young creator/programmer based in Fukuoka. He distinguished himself in junior high school and is attracting attention as a next-generation tech artist. He won the top prize (Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award) in the U-22 Programming Contest aimed at students under 28. The award-winning work, 'F-gen', is an application that generates fractals (self-similar structures) and was highly praised for fusing mathematical structures with artistic expression. With chaos theory as a theme, he explores expressions that expand conventional geometric visuals.

- Namae Myoji
Born in 1987, from Hyogo Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Painting (Oil Painting) at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019. Prompted by her own experiences, she creates installations dealing with issues surrounding the body, sexuality, identity, and their consumption. Recently, she has been focusing on the latent potential of 'narratives' by incorporating storytelling formats into her work. Major exhibitions include the solo exhibition 'In the Room' (HARUKA ITO / 2025), 'Was Woman Truly the Sun in the Beginning?' (KOTARO NUKAGA Three / 2025), 'SICF23 Exhibition Category Grand Prix Exhibition: Babel and Utopia' (Spiral / 2023), and the 'CAF Award 2022' (Daikanyama Hillside Forum / 2022).

- Shunsuke Saiki
Artist. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1987. Completed the Master's Program in Fine Arts at Kyushu Sangyo University Graduate School of Arts. Major solo exhibitions include 'Clear Vision' (Gallery Yukihira, 2025), 'Replay' (Yokohama Marine Tower, 2024), and 'Skip chapter' (Artas Gallery, 2023).
