artTunes Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter "artTunes") announces that the Ocean STEAM Promotion Division of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (hereinafter "JAMSTEC") will participate in its next-generation ocean summit, "Blue-Shrimp Summit."
This project is positioned as a new initiative within the CEATEC 2026 "Ocean Digital Society Pavilion" and will be implemented as a collaborative project between artTunes and JAMSTEC from its first iteration.
From its inaugural event, JAMSTEC, Japan's leading ocean research institution, will participate as an official partner.
A Summit-Type Competition Where the Next Generation Takes on the "Ocean"
"Blue-Shrimp Summit." is a summit-type competition for high school, vocational school, and university students, forming teams of three, which begins with the question:
"What kind of ocean will we hand over to the next generation?"
Applicants independently pose questions on the theme of "the ocean," deepen their thoughts through dialogue, and submit proposals. After selection, five representative teams from various fields (nicknamed "Ocean G5") will be chosen.
The selected five teams will proceed to a program lasting several months, where they will develop their concepts through summits at the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and dialogues/research with experts. Ultimately, they will present their proposals for the future at CEATEC 2026 as a societal proposition.
Through this program, participants will practically acquire three core abilities, working with experts across fields such as marine science, marine industry, and art:
- "Perception" to understand the ocean as a structure - "Implementation" to connect questions to society - "Expression" to convey proposals to people
The core of this summit is to confront the ocean not merely as something to "know," but from the perspective of:
"How to perceive, how to influence, and how to communicate"
and to envision the future of the ocean and society themselves.
"Blue-Shrimp Summit." - A completely new summit-type competition where next-generation talents challenge the "ocean" in teams of three.
This is a summit-type competition where high school, vocational school, and university students, in teams of three, tackle the question, "What kind of ocean will we hand over to the next generation?"

artTunes × JAMSTEC | Cross-Domain Collaboration
artTunes upholds the vision of "towards an artistic society where human talents bloom" and conducts initiatives to connect nascent creative talents with society, such as organizing the avant-garde art competition "ⅢARTMAN-CELL – Students' Show."
Meanwhile, JAMSTEC, as Japan's leading ocean research institution, is engaged in solving global issues based on marine-earth science, while also promoting the development of next-generation talent through STEAM education.
In this initiative, artTunes will be responsible for the organization, planning, and operation, while JAMSTEC will provide marine expertise and practical perspectives, thereby building a new collaborative model that transcends science, education, and art.
Key Message
This project introduces a new key message:
"Bloom the Ocean" -Beyond the ocean, an unseen future.
This phrase encapsulates the hope that from the ocean, a source of creation, next-generation talents will blossom, and the future of the ocean will expand beautifully and limitlessly.
The key message for this collaboration is "Bloom the Ocean" - Beyond the ocean, an unseen future.
JAMSTEC Comment
The profound ocean is often called the source of life, and its very existence evokes a sense of nostalgia, tranquility, and emotional connection within us. At times, these emotions have been expressed in artistic forms such as music and painting. The fact that countless works have been left behind is proof of humanity's insatiable quest to perceive and create the ocean as art. We at JAMSTEC aim to explore the Earth, with the ocean at its center, as a subject of science and technological development, and to contribute to humanity and society. Although cutting-edge scientific knowledge is created in the marine-earth field, it usually does not have the opportunity to meet and merge with art. "Blue-Shrimp Summit." is a rare initiative where young people, who will bear the next generation, seriously confront the issues surrounding the ocean and express their carefully considered ideas through art. The direction aligns with our interdisciplinary marine STEAM education. We want to witness and support the unflagging efforts of young people as they challenge for a brighter future for Earth.
