Arflex Japan (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Taku Hoshina) will launch the "GIO PONTI OBJECTS" collection by the comprehensive interior brand Molteni&C in Japan starting Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
This collection consists of eight pieces carefully selected from over 250 design objects found in the vast archives of Gio Ponti, one of the 20th century's most iconic architects, carrying his philosophy and aesthetics into the modern day. For Ponti, who famously stated that "architecture is an interpretation of life," architecture, furniture, and objects were all part of a creative whole that shapes human living.
From pieces with sculptural presence to those designed for daily use, each work breathes with Ponti's design philosophy, which reinterprets space through the axis of geometric forms. These timeless, beautiful objects bring a sense of freedom and lightness to any home.
Salvatore Licitra, curator of the Gio Ponti Archives and grandson of the designer, describes the collection as follows:
"These are not merely decorative items. They are vivid 'guardians of the home' that encourage new ways of living and set the stage for imagination across space and time—tools that should always be kept close at hand. They are beautiful objects, imbued with a sense of the 'impossible.' The power to evoke the past and freely reinterpret its role is an essential characteristic that runs through all of Gio Ponti's work, from decoration to architecture, interiors, ceramics, glass, and even stage costumes." (Salvatore Licitra, Curator, Gio Ponti Archives)
