In spring, after the harsh winter, warabi sprouts all at once on the mountain slopes, and during the wild vegetable season, tourist warabi farms are bustling. Oguni Town's warabi is known for its thick texture and strong sliminess, with one of the highest production volumes in Japan.
Day 1: Experience Oguni Town's food culture
On the first day, guests will experience local food culture at Suigen-no-Sato Community Exchange Center.
They will savor soba made from a fragrant rare variety 'Maboroshi' cultivated by local farmers and 'Dewakaori', a specialty variety of Yamagata Prefecture. They will also experience making warabi mochi using 100% warabi starch from Oguni.
Afterward, guests will stay at 'Iide Onsen Baikakuso' or 'Shiroi Mori Community Exchange Center Rifure', where they can relax with dinner featuring mountain blessings and a hot spring bath.
Day 2: Warabi picking amidst superb views
On the second day, enjoy warabi picking to your heart's content at various tourist warabi farms throughout the town.
