Hiroshima Motomachi Aquarium (Director: Fumihiro Sato; Location: Pacela 7th Floor, 6-78 Motomachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima) will launch a new event, the "Aquarium Backyard Tour," starting Wednesday, April 29th.

In this event, you will enter the backyard area, which is not usually accessible, and receive a guided tour explaining the work that supports the lives of the creatures, such as the keepers' duties and the process of making artificial seawater. Additionally, a special experience of feeding the creatures is prepared during the tour. The program is designed to deepen your understanding of the ingenuity and behind-the-scenes efforts of animal care, allowing you to experience the aquarium's theme, "The Stage of Life," from the perspective of the supporters. It is recommended not only for families but also for anyone interested in living creatures.

Furthermore, during the Golden Week period from Saturday, May 2nd to Wednesday, May 6th, the aquarium will open 30 minutes earlier and close 30 minutes later than usual, with operating hours from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM (last admission at 7:00 PM).

【Aquarium Backyard Tour Overview】

・ Dates: Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays starting from Wednesday, April 29, 2026

・ Time: 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM (Meeting time: 2:55 PM)

・ Duration: Approximately 30-40 minutes

・ Meeting Point: Forest area inside the aquarium

・ Fee: 1,000 yen/person

・ How to Participate: Those wishing to join should purchase a ticket at the information desk or the Forest guidepost (where Sakana Quest is sold) inside the aquarium, and then gather at the meeting point at the designated time. (Same-day registration/first-come, first-served)

・ Capacity: 10 people ※Registration and ticket sales will end once capacity is reached.

・ Eligibility: Elementary school students and older

※Elementary school students must be accompanied by a guardian (junior high school student or older). The guardian will also be charged.

※Those who have difficulty walking independently cannot participate as the tour involves narrow passages and stairs.

During the Golden Week period from Saturday, May 2nd to Wednesday, May 6th, we will open 30 minutes earlier and extend our closing time by 30 minutes so that more customers can enjoy the aquarium.
