APA Group Acquires Hotel in Calgary, Canada – COAST Calgary University District Hotel by APA to Open July 1

APA Hotel Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 3-2-3 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Fumiko Motoya), one of Japan’s largest hotel chains, has decided to acquire the Best Western Plus Village Park Inn (160 rooms) located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, through its subsidiary APA Hotel Canada Inc. (Head Office: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Representative Director: Takakazu Machiura). This will be APA’s second hotel in Calgary, following the existing COAST Calgary Downtown Hotel & Suites by APA.

The hotel is located in a vibrant area of Calgary, close to universities, hospitals, and McMahon Stadium—the home of Calgary’s professional American football team—along with various sports facilities. Situated approximately 10 minutes by car from the downtown district where the existing hotel operates, this area sees high demand from event attendees, university and hospital staff, and sports organizations throughout the year. Given the distinct demand profile compared to the downtown location, APA Group decided to proceed with the acquisition. The property is scheduled to open on July 1, 2026, as COAST Calgary University District Hotel by APA, operated by Coast Hotels Ltd., a 100%-owned subsidiary of APA Group, just like APA Hotel Canada Inc.

Following the opening, the hotel will continue operations while undergoing renovations to its signage, lobby, and select guest rooms. All rooms will be upgraded with TOTO Washlet toilets and large flat-screen TVs, the standard room specifications for the "COAST by APA" brand. Additionally, each room will feature origami cranes—symbolizing Japanese hospitality—and select premium amenities currently used in APA’s Japanese properties. Guests who book directly through the official website will earn Apa Points.
