NQ 50/100

Aoba-BBT, Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Iwao Shibata; hereinafter "Aoba-BBT") will hold a special online talk event on Wednesday, April 23, 2026, as a symbolic project of its group-wide "Anniversary Project."

We are honored to welcome as our guest Mr. Taichiro Motoe, Representative Director and CEO of Bengo4.com, Inc., who laid the foundation for his entrepreneurship at our Attacker's Business School (ABS) and is now known as Japan's first "listed company founder with a lawyer's license."

Mr. Motoe, who built a Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed company from scratch—at one point reaching a market capitalization of over 300 billion yen—will join our President, Iwao Shibata, to discuss "entrepreneurial decision-making" and "social transformation strategies" in these uncertain times.

■ Background

This talk is a key initiative of the Aoba-BBT Group's "Anniversary Project: Life-time Empowerment in Invisible Continent," running from 2025 to 2027. With 2026 as a focal point, several of our educational institutions, including the Attacker's Business School (established in 1996, celebrating its 30th anniversary) and the Business Breakthrough University and Graduate School, are reaching significant milestones. We view this not merely as a passing point, but as a starting point for creating new value for the "next 50 to 100 years."

■ Purpose

The goal of this project is to share how our philosophy of "Life-time Empowerment" can become a force for social change, through the trajectories of the diverse alumni who have emerged from the Aoba-BBT Group.

Despite having a stable career path guaranteed as a lawyer, Mr. Motoe decided to pursue entrepreneurship in the then-unexplored field of "Law x IT" after studying at ABS. His journey—challenging industry norms head-on, transforming access to legal services with the "Bengo4.com" portal, and even changing Japan's traditional "hanko" (seal) culture with the "CloudSign" electronic contract service—is the very definition of innovation. By sharing the story of how an alumnus who spread his wings at our school built a leading Japanese company and continues to transform social structures, we aim to pass the baton of challenge to the next generation of leaders.

■ Talk Highlights

This session will explore the "secrets of strength" behind Bengo4.com and Mr. Motoe's "secrets to success on the opposite side of common sense" through three perspectives:

  1. The Ultimate 'Reverse Thinking': How did Mr. Motoe turn barriers that many thought were "unchangeable"—such as lawyer advertising regulations and the hanko culture—into business opportunities? We will delve into the "0-to-1 thinking" cultivated at ABS and the mindset required to stick to one's convictions even when standing alone.
  2. 'Market Creation Strategy' that Overturns Common Sense: How was the model of "free legal consultation" born, breaking the industry norms of the time? We will unravel the process of creating the massive LegalTech market from scratch and the growth strategy as a platformer.
  3. 'Vision for the Next Generation' through Law x Technology: What lies beyond the mission of "Creating the next common sense with 'Professional Tech'?" As AI and LegalTech become social infrastructure, we will discuss the role humans should play and the "national-level perspective" that young aspiring entrepreneurs should possess.
