Kashima Antlers will begin introducing "Peelable Cups" (*), a food paper container, at some stores offering stadium gourmet food at Mercari Stadium, starting from the Meiji Yasuda J1 Centennial Vision League Regional League Round EAST Matchday 14 against FC Machida Zelvia on Sunday, May 3rd.

This initiative aims to promote the recycling of waste discharged from Mercari Stadium and is one of the concrete efforts to realize "resource circulation" and "sustainable procurement," which are important themes of the sustainability policy formulated in November 2025. Together with our fans and supporters, we aim to instill the awareness that "trash if discarded, resource if separated" as a new standard at the stadium.

Background of Introduction and Mechanism of "Peelable Cup" Horizontal Recycling

Until now, Mercari Stadium has accelerated its resource circulation efforts, including washing and collecting beverage paper cups, and from this season, refreshing waste sorting and collecting food leftovers. However, containers used for stadium gourmet food had the problem that they were difficult to recycle due to residual oil stains and moisture after eating, and many were treated as "burnable waste."

To address this issue, Kashima Antlers collaborated with Toyo Seikan Group Holdings Co., Ltd., a club partner. They adopted the "Peelable Cup," which allows the remaining paper container to be collected and circulated as a "recycled resource" by peeling off the inner film that prevents contamination after use.

The "Peelable Cup" introduced this time has a structure where a film is laminated on the inside of the paper, preventing food from directly touching the paper. After eating, simply peeling off the film keeps the paper clean, allowing the peeled paper to be horizontally recycled back into raw materials for containers.

Waste Sorting Updated to 10 Categories

With the introduction of the "Peelable Cup," waste sorting at all collection points, including the concourse, will be updated from the previous 9 categories to 10 categories, newly adding the "Peelable Cup."

Kashima Antlers will gradually expand the number of stores introducing the "Peelable Cup" and aim to spread it to all food and beverage outlets within the stadium. By realizing the recycling of gourmet food containers, we will further advance resource circulation at the stadium.

* "Peelable Cup" is the club's unique name for the food paper container "FF (Film Forming) Cup" sold by Toyo Seikan Group.
