Anritsu Corporation (President: Hirokazu Hamada) is collaborating with NTT Docomo, Inc. (hereinafter, Docomo) to conduct verification aimed at enhancing the precision of radio wave propagation simulation technology, with an eye on the 6G era. By comparing and verifying large-scale, high-precision measurement data automatically collected in real environments with radio wave propagation simulation results, and analyzing the factors causing discrepancies between the two, they aim to improve simulation accuracy.
As part of this initiative, a demonstration will be held at the XGMF booth during Wireless Japan x Wireless Technology Park (WTP) 2026, showcasing automatic measurement of radio wave propagation and communication quality using autonomous mobile robots.
In recent years, as 5G advances and the next-generation communication system 6G approaches, there are growing expectations for Communication Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) that enhance network design, verification, and operation by linking cyber-space with real-world data. However, the collection and maintenance of radio wave propagation data that finely reflects real environments are not yet sufficient. Traditional radio wave propagation simulations have faced challenges in adequately reflecting complex environmental changes and actual communication quality in real environments.
To address these challenges, Anritsu and Docomo are working to verify and enhance the precision of radio wave propagation simulations. They utilize large-scale, high-precision radio wave propagation data automatically acquired in real fields, using a measurement system that measures self-position and radio wave strength within a self-generated map by autonomous mobile robots. In this joint experiment, Anritsu's Field Simulation Test and its software radio platform MD8190A will be used to acquire and analyze radio wave propagation characteristics, electric field strength distribution, and IQ data in real environments. By comparing these actual measurement results with Docomo's cyber-space simulation results, they aim to achieve simulations that more accurately reflect environmental characteristics.
Anritsu will continue to promote the advancement of CPS technology based on measurement data through its collaboration with Docomo, contributing to improved communication quality and advanced network design. Furthermore, Anritsu will continue to research and develop advanced evaluation and verification technologies for the 6G era, continuously providing solutions that support the evolution of communication infrastructure.
