Anritsu Corporation (President: Koichi Hamada) and LG Electronics Inc. (hereinafter referred to as LG) have successfully conducted a compliance verification of LG's In-Vehicle System (IVS) for Hybrid eCall, against the European certification standard EN 18052:2025 for Hybrid eCall. This verification confirmed that emergency call services can be continuously provided even in communication environments accompanying the evolution of cellular networks in Europe.

This joint verification was carried out using Anritsu's Hybrid eCall evaluation solution, which is the industry's first*¹ to obtain certification for the European standard EN 18052:2025. This solution enables end-to-end operational verification of eCall services in cellular network environments where circuit-switched (2G/3G) and packet-switched (4G/LTE IMS) methods, required for Hybrid eCall, coexist. The results confirmed that LG's IVS meets the functional and interoperability requirements for Hybrid eCall, ensuring the continuous provision of emergency call services during the network transition period.

Hybrid eCall is designed to enable next-generation eCall (NG eCall) over IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in packet-switched networks, while ensuring backward compatibility with traditional circuit-switched networks. In Europe, compatibility with NG eCall is becoming mandatory for type approval of new vehicles. In response to these regulatory developments, verifying the operation of Hybrid eCall in mixed network environments is indispensable for automotive and in-vehicle manufacturers to demonstrate their compliance with regulations.

Shinji Hoshino, Business Director, IoT Test Solutions Division, Anritsu, commented: "Hybrid eCall demands high functional and interoperability requirements end-to-end in environments where different communication methods coexist. Through this joint verification with LG, we were able to confirm the proper implementation of Hybrid eCall and its compliance with the latest European eCall standards."

Kim Hong-doc, Vice President, Connectivity Development at LG, commented: "This verification has confirmed that our in-vehicle systems meet the Hybrid eCall requirements during the transition to NG eCall in Europe. We feel it is highly significant that, through our collaboration with Anritsu, we were able to achieve end-to-end eCall performance verification in accordance with the latest European standards."

The Hybrid eCall measurement system used in this verification was demonstrated as a standard-compliant Hybrid eCall verification using a live network test environment at the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) event held in Gothenburg, Sweden, on April 23, 2026.
