The Japan Pet Disaster Prevention Association (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hideki Nonaka) will hold its first establishment press conference and announcement event on May 20, 2026, following the association's establishment.

In recent years, during disasters such as earthquakes and heavy rains, the lack of preparedness for accepting pets in evacuation shelters has become an issue. This has led to the social problem of 'pet refugees,' where households with pets are forced to stay in their cars or evacuate at home because they cannot use evacuation shelters.
At this announcement, we will explain the background of pet disaster prevention in Japan, the association's establishment objectives, future activity policies, and concrete initiatives for developing pet disaster prevention systems in cooperation with local governments and private companies.
We will also announce the 'Pet Disaster Prevention Action Program' promoted by this association and introduce the construction of a new disaster prevention model that comprehensively promotes system design, base development, digital infrastructure, and human resource development.
This program will promote the creation of a system to support pet disaster prevention throughout society through the popularization of pet-accompanied/co-habitation/co-room evacuation, the development of secondary pet evacuation centers 'Paw Station,' the utilization of the pet disaster prevention ID platform 'Animoba,' and cooperation with local governments and companies.
