The Japan Pet Disaster Prevention Association (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hideki Nonaka) has begun recruiting pet-related companies as members to promote the development of pet disaster prevention systems during emergencies.
While the number of households treating pets as family members is increasing in Japan, the acceptance systems for pets during disasters are still not sufficiently developed.
In recent large-scale disasters, it has been difficult to accommodate pets in evacuation centers. Many households with pets are unable to use these shelters and choose to sleep in their cars or shelter at home.
Under these circumstances, there is a need to create a mechanism supported by society as a whole to assist pets during disasters.
The Japan Pet Disaster Prevention Association aims to build a sustainable pet disaster prevention system through collaboration among local governments, companies, and local communities.

## ■ Collaboration between the Pet Industry and Disaster Prevention
Pet-related companies play an important role not only in providing pet products and services but also in supporting pet culture in society.
Through this association, by having companies participate in regional disaster prevention activities, we will promote:
- Pet support during disasters
- Spread of disaster prevention education
- Participation in local disaster prevention activities
and advance the creation of a mechanism where society as a whole supports pet disaster prevention.
For companies, participating in pet disaster prevention activities carries great significance as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability efforts.

## ■ Main Initiatives of the Association
The Japan Pet Disaster Prevention Association systematically develops pet disaster prevention from five perspectives: 'systems, bases, digital, human resources, and social awareness,' promoting the construction of an effective disaster prevention framework.

1. Partnership Agreements and System Design with Local Governments
We promote the conclusion of partnership agreements with prefectures and municipalities nationwide, supporting the design of systems and operational frameworks for pet disaster prevention.
Working alongside disaster prevention and crisis management departments, we sort out issues related to evacuation with pets, accompanying pets, and sheltering in the same room, analyze advanced cases, and aim to introduce highly effective disaster prevention models tailored to regional characteristics.
Furthermore, through institutionalization and the implementation of model projects, we promote the establishment of a standard framework that can be rolled out nationwide.

2. Pet Secondary Evacuation Base 'Paw Station'
To secure an environment where people can safely continue evacuation life with their pets during a disaster, we are promoting the development of 'Paw Stations', a pet-friendly secondary evacuation shelter.
To handle cases difficult to accommodate in primary shelters, we set up dedicated environments that consider hygiene management, traffic flow design, and individual identification, ensuring the safety and peace of mind for both humans and pets.
We proceed with development through collaboration with public facilities (community centers, closed schools, etc.), idle land, and private facilities. In normal times, they serve as bases for disaster education and regional training, and during emergencies, they form a rapidly operational system.

3. Pet ID Platform 'Animoba'
Leveraging digital technology, we operate the pet ID platform 'Animoba', which centrally manages pet individual identification information, vaccination history, health information, and owner details.
This enables rapid acceptance verification and support for reuniting with owners during disasters, and realizes operational efficiency improvements through coordination with evacuation centers and Paw Stations.
Even in normal times, it facilitates authentication during facility use.
