The Japan Pet Disaster Prevention Association (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hideki Nonaka) will hold an establishment presentation, which also serves as a press conference for the media, in conjunction with the founding of the association.

At this presentation, against the backdrop of the current state and challenges of pet disaster prevention in Japan, we will announce the purpose of the association's establishment, future activity policies, and the development of a pet disaster prevention system through collaboration with local governments and private companies.

During recent disasters such as earthquakes and heavy rains, there are many cases where the acceptance system for pets at evacuation shelters is not sufficiently developed. This leads to households with pets being unable to use shelters, opting instead to sleep in their cars or evacuate at home. The issue of so-called 'pet refugees' has been pointed out as a social challenge.

In response to this problem, the Japan Pet Disaster Prevention Association will promote the creation of a system that supports pet disaster prevention across society as a whole through: - Popularization of evacuating with, accompanying, and sharing rooms with pets - Development of secondary evacuation shelters for pets - Pet disaster prevention utilizing digital technology - Collaboration with local governments and businesses

At the presentation, we will introduce specific concepts for these initiatives and explain the ideal future state of the pet disaster prevention system. We kindly request members of the press to cover this event.
