The origin of this dream lies in the words of a senior citizen whom Iizuka, the representative of ANIMANECT, met while walking his dog.

"At this age, I can't keep a dog anymore. Because I will die first."

His words, spoken while lovingly holding a dog, left a lasting impression. There is indeed a reality where people have to give up living with pets due to age or family circumstances, even if they wish to.

Amidst the declining birthrate and aging population, increasing single-person households, nuclear families, and delayed marriages, the forms of family and community support are changing, and anxiety about continuing to live with pets is growing. ANIMANECT aims to create a society where people do not have to give up living with pets for such reasons.

The underlying anxiety of "not being able to care for them until the end"

In fact, for the senior generation, "not being able to care for them until the end" is one of the reasons for not owning a pet. Furthermore, according to materials from the Japan Veterinary Medical Association, the decrease in the number of companion animal owners due to factors such as the declining birthrate and aging population is indicated as a challenge.

"Nekofes 2026" to be held at Saitama Super Arena as a practical platform

One of the practical platforms for this is "Nekofes 2026," to be held at Saitama Super Arena on August 1st (Sat) and 2nd (Sun), 2026. Nekofes 2026 is a festival of learning and experience, held with the support of Saitama Prefecture, under the theme of "Enriching the lives of cats and people." Hideyuki Iizuka, the representative of ANIMANECT, serves as the Vice Executive Chairman and Secretary-General, involved in its planning and operation. We will not only disseminate our philosophy but also promote social implementation through creating actual venues in collaboration with local communities and businesses.
