Pet Insurance "Doubutsu Kenpo" Exceeds 1.4 Million Policies in Force

Anicom General Insurance Company, Inc. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Shingo Noda; hereinafter "Anicom") is pleased to announce that its pet insurance product "Doubutsu Kenpo" has surpassed 1.4 million policies in force (※2). Anicom holds the No. 1 share (※1) in the pet insurance market.

1 Animal Health Insurance Card

We wanted to provide an insurance card, similar to those for humans, as a symbol of a "family member." This card, a symbol of Anicom, has been renewed over time to meet the needs of the era.

The number of veterinary hospitals that accept "on-site settlement" using the Animal Health Insurance Card has expanded to 7,053 nationwide (※3). The convenience of using insurance without having to pay for veterinary treatment upfront is supported by many policyholders.

2 Gut Microbiome Analysis Service "Doubutsu Kenkatsu"

Since 2018, Anicom General Insurance has offered "Doubutsu Kenkatsu (Gut Microbiome Analysis Service)" (※4), which independently calculates indicators related to health status and disease risk trends based on the ratio of bacteria constituting the pet's gut microbiome and insurance claim data.

By analyzing a pet's stool, owners can check the balance of their gut microbiome and their general health trends. Furthermore, dogs and cats identified as having a higher risk of certain diseases can receive a free health check-up (blood test) at Anicom-designated veterinary hospitals.

Anicom General Insurance's pet insurance includes the annual "Doubutsu Kenkatsu" service free of charge (excluding some plans (※5)), which can be utilized for daily health management.

3 Lost Pet Search Service

This service is provided in partnership with Anicom General Insurance and Japan Lost Pet Rescue (operated by Animalia Association, Representative Director Masao Endo). Upon request from policyholders, professional pet detectives conduct searches for lost pets (※6). This is a reliable service in the unfortunate event that a pet goes missing.

4 Doubutsu Hotline

This is a service exclusively for policyholders, allowing them to consult directly with specialists such as veterinarians and trainers about pet-related concerns via LINE. It addresses not only questions requiring veterinary knowledge but also everyday concerns such as training and diet from a professional perspective.
