and factory Inc., which operates the accommodation brand &AND HOSTEL, announced that it will open a new location, &AND HOSTEL NAMBA SOUTH, in Osaka’s Namba area on August 1, 2026, as an operating partner of Riches Management Co., Ltd. The opening marks the first new &AND HOSTEL location in about six years and will be operated directly by and factory. The company was commissioned by Riches Management, a firm engaged in real estate asset management and hotel development, to operate the property as the second facility under the &AND HOSTEL brand for Riches Management. &AND HOSTEL NAMBA SOUTH is located south of Namba Station. The hostel will accommodate 136 guests in total, with 68 dormitory beds and 28 private rooms. Its room lineup is designed to serve a range of travel styles, from backpackers and solo business travelers to friends, couples, families, and groups, including rooms for four guests. The first floor will include a reception area and a shared lounge, with counter seating where guests can work on laptops. The hostel will welcome guests with friendly staff who reflect the hostel’s approachable atmosphere and local knowledge. The store logo is inspired by the origin of the name Namba, which is said to derive from the old word Naniwa, meaning a place where waves gather, such as an inlet or river mouth. True to that name, the area developed as a port town where people and goods moved through waterways. The logo combines curtain folds reminiscent of Kabuki theater curtains with the traditional Japanese seigaiha wave pattern, expressing the moment of a curtain rising and a new stage beginning. The brand hopes the property will feel like the opening of a journey, where guests’ mood shifts and their story begins the moment they arrive in the city. Rooted in Namba, the hostel aims to be approachable for first-time visitors and a place where people gather like waves and want to return. The logo was developed together with and factory’s Design Section based on this concept. Since opening its first location in 2016, &AND HOSTEL has welcomed guests from Japan and overseas and has operated a cumulative total of 19 facilities, mainly in Tokyo and Osaka. Due to the spread of COVID-19 from 2020, the brand had to reduce its number of operating locations and postpone new openings. With inbound travel demand to Japan steadily increasing in the post-pandemic period, the company plans to further expand its store network and accelerate the creation of new brands. Beyond accommodation, &AND HOSTEL will also promote initiatives to create higher-value experiences through collaboration with local communities and other industries.
