AM-One Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda City, Tokyo; President Noriyuki Sugihara; hereinafter "AM-One") has published an analysis of employee survey results on retirement asset formation through its research initiative, the "Future Nurturing Laboratory," which promotes financial and economic education.
The employee survey on retirement asset formation (hereinafter "the survey") was conducted by the "Long-Term Research Team for Social Implementation of Asset Formation (Phase 2)" (Chair: Professor Hirotomo Koda, Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University; hereinafter "the research team"). The research team was initially launched in March 2024 as Phase 1 by the nonprofit Pension and Senior Planning Comprehensive Research Institute (Minato Ward, Tokyo; President Noriyuki Takayama), bringing together financial professionals and experts. AM-One participated in this initiative. Since June 2025, Phase 2 has continued research and surveys with the goal of providing insights into workplace-based asset formation support, financial and economic education, and advanced retirement planning in Japan.
AM-One, having cooperated in conducting this survey, has now organized and presented the findings in an accessible format for the general public, clarifying the current state and implications of financial and economic education in the workplace.
[Survey Overview]
Five corporate members of the research team—Azbil Corporation, Kewpie Corporation, NEC Corporation, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd., and AM-One (listed in alphabetical order)—collaborated in the survey, administering questionnaires to their employees between December 2025 and February 2026. A total of 7,361 employees responded.
These five companies actively promote financial and economic education for employees. This survey analyzes the relationship between corporate initiatives and employees' awareness and behaviors.
Additionally, the research team analyzed the "2025 Global Survey on Retirement Asset Formation" conducted by T. Rowe Price Group across five countries (Japan, U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada). Building on this, the survey was designed to include comparable questions, enabling relative insights into Japan's unique characteristics.
[Key Survey Findings (selected highlights)]
- When companies sincerely engage in financial and economic education, employees recognize these efforts and rely on the information provided by their employers.
- Ongoing education programs and refreshed financial product offerings serve as catalysts for behavioral change among employees.
- Employees at these companies show higher investment participation rates and lower resistance to taking investment risks compared to the national average in Japan.
- While current financial stress levels are low, this does not necessarily translate into greater confidence about retirement or tangible progress in retirement savings.
