Kawakami Village in Nagano Holds First Future Meeting Using the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Corps DAO

Sharing diverse ideas for vacant-house revitalization: For the main theme, the “Vacant-House Revitalization Project,” participants used a property within walking distance of a JR station as a model case and exchanged opinions on how it could be used. Key ideas included: Providing an experience close to living in the village: Creating stay programs of around one week to one month that bridge the gap between travel and relocation. Multifaceted experiential content: Wild game cuisine experiences using hunter networks, agricultural experiences such as lettuce farming, and creative retreats that take advantage of the quiet environment. Building attachment through DIY renovation: A participatory mechanism in which people from inside and outside the village work together on DIY renovations while also exploring collaboration with sponsor companies. Rather than rushing to reach conclusions or definitive answers, the meeting concluded with an agreement to use the ideas raised as material for further consideration toward creating a “related population hub” and to connect them to future demonstrations.
