Alyawmu Inc. (Headquarters: Sapporo, Hokkaido; Representative Director: Hiroaki Hatanaka; hereinafter "Alyawmu") utilized its "Chiiki Okoshi Kyoryokutai DAO" (Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team DAO) to organize a community called "machiDAO," launched by hiro, who works as a DAO manager in Yoichi Town. This "Shodoshima & Setouchi Tour" was held for three days from Friday, April 10, to Sunday, April 12, 2026, primarily centered on Shodoshima Island, Kagawa Prefecture.

In addition to machiDAO members, DAO managers active across Japan also participated, collectively experiencing local culture and resources. On the first day, they stayed at "Kowane," an old traditional house inn gaining attention for its regeneration through DAO, and held an evening study session to discuss daily activities and regional issues.

### Background of Staying at "Kowane" Inn

This stay was made possible by Maip, a founder of Osakanadao Nagasaki (DAO) and a machiDAO member, who offered an "Owner's Accommodation Privilege."

"Kowane" inn, where they stayed, is a 100-year-old traditional house on Shodoshima that has been renovated using a fundraising model adopted by Re. Asset DAO, available for private rental. By using a site of regional revitalization leveraging Web3 mechanisms as a base, participants had the opportunity to experience a new form of regional support firsthand.

### What is "Kowane," a 100-Year-Old Traditional House Fully Renovated?

"Kowane" is a private rental inn limited to one group per day, located in the "Maze Town" area of central Shodoshima, with its intricate old streets. Preserving the traditional design of a 100-year-old house passed down through generations, a circular modern irori (sunken hearth) handcrafted by a Sanuki furniture craftsman is installed in the center of the spacious living room. Furthermore, it boasts three independent bedrooms, and a private sauna and cold bath in the courtyard, offering a quiet and extraordinary space detached from the outside world.

### Evening Study Session for Knowledge Sharing and a 3-Day Tour of Setouchi Art

During their stay at "Kowane," participants held a study session to share their daily activities and insights on regional issues. Gathering in the living room for deep discussions, they strengthened community ties that transcend physical distance.

They also conducted fieldwork, touring major spots on Shodoshima such as Kankakei Gorge, Angel Road, and Inoue Seikouen, as well as art and cultural spots in Setouchi like the Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum in Takamatsu City and the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima.

This provided a valuable opportunity for machiDAO members and various DAO managers to gain insights for their respective activities by actually walking through the Setouchi region.

**Maip**
Enjoyed delicious and beautiful Japanese food during a pleasant season in Kagawa, including udon, local fish, Shodoshima somen, olive oil, soy sauce dishes, and traditional Japanese cuisine.

At Kowane inn, with underfloor heating in the living room, we had a leisurely time presenting our activities. While snacking on souvenirs brought from various regions, we shared stories about DAO activities, community management, and facility operations in different areas, which provided mutual hints and encouragement—a truly valuable experience.

Enjoying the unique rocky terrain of Shodoshima, a stone production area, it turned out to be a wonderful tour that fostered connections, unlike a regular trip or training!

This time, I had the pleasure of sightseeing and staying overnight with people I met for the first time on the Shodoshima tour, whom I had connected with online.

I met the organizers through casual online interactions and events. The gathered members openly shared and outputted what they are currently working on, their jobs, AI, movies, and hobbies while relaxing, which was very stimulating.

Even in ordinary daily life, despite anxious times, it became clear that everyone lives positively and joyfully. The sightseeing with these members also brought many discoveries about things I hadn't noticed despite living there, and those moments truly became precious, once-in-a-lifetime memories that I cherish even now.

**Sabii (DAO Manager, Jinsekikogen Town)**
My first visit to Shodoshima was an excellent experience!

The integrated development of industry, tourism, and culture centered around olives was very参考 to our own region's pawpaw utilization. The everyday feel, not overly commercialized, was also impressive, and the moderate balance of utilizing local resources without going overboard was very comfortable.

**Comment from hiro (DAO Manager, Yoichi Town, machiDAO)**
The planning and preparations, which started from MaiP's DAO-like proposal, were carried out nightly on Discord. Booklets were created using AI tools, and spots were researched, all mainly through chat.

Although we made a mistake at the ferry terminal meeting point on the day, once we gathered, we enjoyed the trip smoothly with good teamwork. At the main event, Kowane inn, we admired the splendid architectural design and furnishings.
