Japan, Osaka—Swissôtel Nankai Osaka (Location: Chuo-ku, Osaka; General Manager: Shane Edwards), which has its roots in Switzerland, will host an event titled "Whisky Social" on April 25, 2026 (Saturday) at its 6th-floor Whisky & Wine "Shun," featuring Yuzo Ishihara, the 5th Master of Whisky from Suntory, as a special guest lecturer.

Whisky & Wine "Shun" hosts the "Whisky Social" event every month, welcoming both whisky enthusiasts and those who are just beginning to enjoy whisky. In April, we will welcome Yuzo Ishihara, Suntory's 5th Master of Whisky, to introduce the charm and ways to enjoy the single malt whisky "Yamazaki." The title of Master of Whisky is the highest qualification in the Whisky Connoisseur certification system organized by the Whisky Culture Research Institute, held by only a few people in Japan. Mr. Ishihara, who has been involved with whisky for many years, will provide an easy-to-understand explanation of the profound world of Yamazaki from his unique perspective.

On the day of the event, guests will be able to enjoy the differences in aroma and taste through a comparative tasting of single malt whiskies "Yamazaki," "Yamazaki 12 Years Old," and "Yamazaki 18 Years Old." In particular, "Yamazaki 12 Years Old" and "Yamazaki 18 Years Old" are known as brands that have become difficult to obtain in recent years, making this a valuable opportunity to taste and compare them.

After the seminar, a free-flow of single malt whisky "Yamazaki" will be provided along with dishes from "Shun." You can spend a relaxing time in a calm atmosphere accompanied by live jazz music.

Guest Lecturer Introduction Yuzo Ishihara Joined Suntory Limited in 1991. With the motto "Knowledge of alcohol plus + is delicious," he serves as a whisky seminar lecturer and a judge for the TWSC competition, among other roles, to promote whisky education. In 2016, he obtained the title of 5th Master of Whisky (certified by the Whisky Culture Research Institute). He also holds qualifications as a Wine Sommelier, Kikisake-shi (Sake Sommelier), and Comrade of Cheese.

*What is a Master of Whisky? The highest qualification of the "Whisky Connoisseur" certification system, the only one in Japan aimed at the popularization and development of whisky. Currently, only 19 people in Japan are certified.
