Cleanup Activity on April 6 in Susukino and Nakajima Park, Where Litter Becomes Visible After Snowmelt

Ibis Styles Sapporo (Location: Sapporo, Hokkaido; General Manager: Masaharu Morita) and Mercure Sapporo (Location: Sapporo, Hokkaido; General Manager: Christopher Carswell), both part of Accor Hotels, which operates 5,700 hotels in over 110 countries worldwide, will conduct a cleanup activity in the Susukino and Nakajima Park area starting at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Cleanup activity in April 2025

As the snow melts in Sapporo city, litter such as paper cartons, empty bottles, and cigarette butts has become noticeable along roadsides and around street trees. This situation is also observed in the Susukino and Nakajima Park areas, which attract many tourists.

In response, Ibis Styles Sapporo (Minami 8-jo) and Mercure Sapporo (Minami 4-jo), located at the northern and southern ends of the Susukino and Nakajima Park area, will carry out a cleanup activity with approximately 20 hotel employees, hoping that visitors can enjoy spring in Sapporo more comfortably.

With many inbound tourists visiting Japan with the impression that "Japanese cities are clean," both hotels started this initiative in April 2025, aiming for visitors to enjoy Susukino and Nakajima Park even more comfortably. This activity has been carried out in June, October, and November as well, making this the fifth time.

Message from General Manager Morita: "We hope that many people will visit the clean Susukino and Nakajima Park and enjoy the upcoming spring comfortably. We also want to contribute to this by first cleaning the city with our own hands."

Date and Time: Monday, April 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM for about 1 to 2 hours (scheduled to be held unless there is heavy rain)

Meeting Place (Starting Point): Front entrance of Ibis Styles Sapporo (3-10-10 Minami 8-jo Nishi 3-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo)

Route: Move from Ibis Styles Sapporo to Nakajima Park. After cleaning around Nakajima Koen Station, head south along Sapporo Ekimae-dori towards Mercure Sapporo (2-2-4 Minami 4-jo Nishi 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo). The route may change depending on the day's conditions.
