1. Background and Purpose
In its growth strategy "Alfresa Group Mid-to-Long-Term Vision" *1 up to FY2032 and the "25–27 Mid-Term Management Plan Vision 2032 Stage 2: Pioneering the Future with Comprehensive Capabilities" *2, the Alfresa Group positions the Total Supply Chain Service (TSCS *4) as a pillar of its business strategy. TSCS provides integrated group-wide support from the introduction, development, and manufacturing of pharmaceuticals to logistics, sales, post-marketing surveillance (PMS *3), and the last mile. Furthermore, leveraging the functions of TSCS, we have started providing services through "PATH-Solution (trademark pending)," a platform that comprehensively supports entry into the Japanese market to remove barriers for foreign emerging biopharmaceutical companies and achieve rapid market entry *5.
In addition to the manufacturing and sale of pharmaceuticals and the manufacturing, import/export, and sale of diagnostics, medical devices, and pharmaceutical raw materials, Alfresa Pharma has been fully engaged in the contract manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and quasi-drugs since 2009, following the 2005 revision of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law which allowed full outsourcing of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Identifying the expansion of contract manufacturing as one of its initiatives in growth areas, the company has been constructing a new pharmaceutical manufacturing building since 2024 to build a more efficient and high-quality production system *6.
With the operation of this new building, in addition to strengthening the production system for low-molecular-weight drugs, the company will fully enter the contract manufacturing of highly pharmacologically active formulations *7 and the contract inspection, packaging, and testing of sterile preparations *8. Through this, we will evolve and expand our functions from development to manufacturing within the Group's TSCS, further solidifying our system to deliver pharmaceuticals of diverse modalities to medical institutions and patients who need them with "Safety," "Security," and "Sincerity."
