Actio Corporation (headquartered in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and COO: Naoto Konuma, hereinafter referred to as Actio), a comprehensive construction equipment rental company, conducted a beach clean-up activity on June 13, 2026 (Saturday) at Kanetamitate Beach in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, aiming to contribute to the local community. A total of approximately 300 participants, including employees and their families, took part in the event.
Currently, marine debris, including beach-washed waste known as 'drift waste,' is recognized globally as a serious environmental issue. This problem not only severely impacts marine ecosystems but also negatively affects tourism and fisheries. As a result, various organizations—including international communities, national governments, corporations, NPOs, and NGOs—are actively working toward solutions.
Actio has been conducting coastal clean-up activities since 2007 to address this critical issue, marking the 16th time this year. The company believes this initiative holds significant value beyond mere environmental conservation.
First, the clean-up contributes to beautifying the local environment and improving living conditions for residents, thereby supporting the regional community. Second, it provides employees and their families with a valuable opportunity to reflect on the issue of marine debris, raising awareness about environmental challenges and prompting renewed consideration of waste management in daily life. Additionally, by involving both employees and their families, the event fosters communication beyond the workplace, enhancing internal cohesion and team spirit.
On the day, the clean-up of Kanetamitate Beach resulted in the collection of approximately one truckload (2-ton dump truck capacity) of waste.
Actio continues to promote SDGs through this initiative—focusing on environmental protection, community contribution, and employee education—and plans to sustain this activity in the future.
Participant Comments
・ I was surprised by how much and what kinds of waste were scattered on the beach. Participating firsthand made me realize that individual awareness is essential to keeping our oceans clean.
・ I hope such clean-up activities continue regularly so that our coastlines become even cleaner. I would like to see these efforts expand further in the future.
