akippa to Operate Official Parking for the 78th Suwa Lake Fireworks Festival

akippa Inc. (CEO: Genki Kanaya), operator of the parking marketplace 'akippa', has announced it will operate official parking for the '78th Suwa Lake Fireworks Festival' to be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture.

For this event, akippa will offer over 2,500 official parking spaces and surrounding private parking lots on a pre-reservation basis. By implementing a pre-booking system, visitor arrival times will be distributed, helping to alleviate severe traffic congestion on the day.

Reservations for official parking will open on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:00 PM, while private parking reservations are scheduled to begin sequentially from Friday, July 17, 2026 at 0:00 AM.

Held annually on August 15, the 'Suwa Lake Fireworks Festival' is nationally renowned as a 'fireworks festival you can feel through sound,' thanks to approximately 40,000 fireworks launched from the lake and the natural acoustics created by mountains surrounding the area.

While attracting many visitors from within and outside the prefecture, the event has long faced challenges such as road congestion and heavy workloads for staff.

Since 2023, akippa has been responsible for operating official and surrounding private parking lots. (※) As a result, not only has congestion during vehicle entry been reduced, but staff working hours have also improved from early morning to daytime shifts.

In 2024 and 2025, akippa continued to operate under the pre-booking system, contributing to reduced traffic congestion from waiting vehicles and lighter on-site operational burdens.

In a survey targeting parking users, 92.8% of respondents in 2025 indicated they would 'actively use' or 'use' the pre-booking parking system in the future, reflecting consistently high satisfaction.

Based on these results, it has been decided that akippa will again operate official and surrounding private parking lots on a pre-booking basis for this year's event. By dispersing arrival times and eliminating congestion from waiting vehicles, akippa aims to reduce traffic congestion and achieve mutual benefits for visitors, organizers, the local community, and akippa itself—'win-win-win-win.'

※ For the 75th Suwa Lake Fireworks Festival, held after a four-year hiatus, akippa's pre-booking system was introduced to address parking congestion. Local businesses were engaged to expand nearby parking availability. This marked the first time akippa managed official festival parking.
