akippa Inc. (CEO: Genki Kanaya), which operates the parking marketplace "akippa," has decided to manage the official parking for the Imabari Citizen's Festival "Onmaku," to be held on August 8 (Sat) and 9 (Sun), 2026, in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. This marks the first time akippa will operate official parking for this event. Reservations will begin on July 8, 2026 (Wed) at 10:00 AM.

For this event, parking lots around the venue will be offered for a fee and will require advance reservation through akippa, starting this year. Two locations are planned for the first day and three for the second. This initiative aims to provide a secure environment for attendees and encourage the use of public transportation for those without reservations, thereby alleviating traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

Furthermore, the revenue generated from paid parking will be utilized as a new funding source to support the sustainable operation of this historic festival. Through its parking management services at events nationwide, akippa strives to facilitate smooth transportation and contribute to solving local traffic issues.

Scenes from the Festival

The Imabari Citizen's Festival "Onmaku" is a major summer event in Imabari, featuring a spectacular fireworks display that fills the night sky, the powerful "Onmaku Odori" dance performed by the citizens, and traditional performing arts passed down through generations, such as Tsugijishi and Shimanami Kaido Taiko.

While the event traditionally attracts a large number of visitors, leading to significant crowds, the previous system of free, first-come, first-served parking often resulted in full parking lots and subsequent traffic jams on surrounding roads, posing an operational challenge.

To address these traffic issues and create a smoother parking experience for attendees, it has been decided to discontinue the free, first-come, first-served parking system and implement an "paid, advance reservation" official parking operation utilizing akippa. This official parking will be operated on a reservation basis for the two-day event.

By having attendees who plan to come by car reserve official parking in advance, they will not need to search for parking upon arrival and can attend the event with peace of mind. This is expected to ease congestion around the venue and reduce traffic jams caused by cars waiting to enter parking lots.

Additionally, the new revenue generated from paid parking will be used for event operational expenses, securing funding and contributing to the establishment of a sustainable operational structure that preserves this traditional festival for the future.

akippa has previously collaborated with FC Imabari, a professional soccer club whose home town is Imabari City, to develop parking facilities around the stadium. (*). By addressing large-scale event operational challenges beyond sports in the same Imabari region, we aim to contribute to alleviating traffic congestion throughout the region.

As a "problem-solving company," we will continue to collaborate with local governments and event organizers nationwide to address various parking issues. We are committed to realizing sustainable operations so that traditional local festivals can continue for a long time and leave behind enjoyable memories.

Furthermore, through smart parking experiences, we strive to support the connection of many people's real-life "meetings."
