Akippa to Operate Official Parking for the 74th Shinshu Shinmachi Summer Festival Fireworks Display

akippa Inc. (CEO: Genki Kanaya), which operates the parking marketplace "akippa," has decided to manage the official parking for the 74th Shinshu Shinmachi Summer Festival Fireworks Display, to be held on August 15, 2026 (Sat) in Shinshu Shinmachi, Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, continuing from last year. Reservations will begin on July 1, 2026 (Wed) at 10:00 AM.

By offering paid, reservation-only parking spaces around the venue, we aim to create a secure environment for attendees and alleviate traffic congestion on surrounding roads. This year, we are adding the grounds of Shinshu Shinmachi Elementary and Junior High Schools, which were unavailable last year due to construction, as official parking areas, providing smoother access for more people.

Furthermore, by utilizing parking revenue as operational funds for the event, we will secure financial resources and support the sustainable operation of this historic event.

Through managing parking at events nationwide, akippa strives to support smooth transportation and contribute to solving local traffic issues.

The "74th Shinshu Shinmachi Summer Festival Fireworks Display" is a traditional Nagano City event dating back to the 1940s, featuring approximately 4,000 fireworks along the Saigawa Riverbed and 500 floating lanterns.

While the event attracts many visitors annually, traffic congestion and a shortage of parking have been persistent issues.

Two years ago, akippa began efforts to develop nearby private parking lots. As a result, these private parking lots were fully occupied on the day of the event, contributing to the event's operations. Consequently, since last year, akippa has been responsible for managing the official parking on a "paid, advance reservation basis." (※)

In its second year of official parking operations, the grounds of "Shinshu Shinmachi Elementary and Junior High Schools" will be available as parking areas in addition to last year's locations, significantly increasing the number of available spaces. The ability to reserve parking in advance eliminates the need for attendees to circle around looking for parking, leading to reduced traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

Moreover, amidst societal challenges such as rising prices and increasing labor costs, the revenue generated from official parking operations will be utilized as new funding for the event. This contributes to securing the necessary funds for the sustainable operation of this local traditional event.

Additionally, private parking lots around the venue will continue to be available through akippa, as they were last year.

By temporarily utilizing vacant spaces in the local area, we not only supplement the parking shortage during events but also promote the circulation of money within the community, leading to economic revitalization.
