[The Challenge of Our 6th Store] uoyaki New Store Design Competition

1. Overview

akinau Inc. (Headquarters: 4-9-8 Tenjinbashi, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; Representative Director: Shinya Taniguchi) is holding a store design competition for the opening of "uoyaki Sakuragawa," the 6th location of our natural wine and fish cuisine restaurant, "uoyaki."

For this project, we are inviting young creators and students aged 30 and under (U30) who will lead the next generation of space design to submit innovative design ideas that embody the world of "pairing" that uoyaki holds dear. The selected plan will be constructed, turning your idea into an actual store.

2. About uoyaki ~What We Value~

uoyaki is a restaurant that expresses the concept of "pairing" through its food, drinks, and space.

We aim to be a place where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled dried fish and natural wine while spending a rich, entertaining time.

3. Why We Seek Young Talent

For our existing stores, we have renovated 100-year-old sheds, preserving the history of the earthen walls and roof structures while focusing on creating a space where people can enjoy "natural things in their natural state."

However, we have no intention of repeating the same thing.

The reason we set the U30 condition is not because we want "youth." It is because we want free ideas that have not yet been tainted by the "common sense" of the industry. Please break down the assumptions of "how things should be" or "what is normal." While understanding the DNA of uoyaki, show us a "pairing" space that only you can envision.

• Flow and layout that allow staff to work with a smile
• Space design that naturally highlights the smiles of our customers
• Functional design that supports one-person operation
• Finishes that utilize natural materials without using chemical building materials
• Renovation that preserves the merits and history of the existing building

5. What You Will Gain

Your Idea Becomes a Real Store

The selected proposal will be built. It will not end as a "drawing" for a competition. Your idea will become blueprints, go through meetings with craftsmen, involve material selection and on-site adjustments, and finally be completed as a space that welcomes customers—you will walk through that entire process with us.

Learn the Professional Field from the Inside

You will be present from start to finish at "professional sites"—including design firms, construction companies, and equipment contractors—that are usually difficult for students and young people to access. How to draw blueprints, how to think about budgets, and how to make decisions on-site. You will be able to experience the reality that is not written in textbooks with your whole body.

6. Application Requirements

[Eligibility]

• Designers, architects, students, and creators aged 30 or under (U30), either as individuals or teams
• Professionals and amateurs are both welcome

[Conditions]

• Ability to create a design that respects the uoyaki concept
• Must be 30 years old or younger at the time of application
• Ability to actively participate as a project member in regular meetings (online or in-person in Osaka) from selection until the opening

This competition will be conducted through document screening.
