Akari Hosho, Supporting Elderly Living Alone, Opens Hiroshima Branch

Akari Hosho Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Yuki Shimizu), a company that provides lifelong support services (such as guarantor services) for the elderly in compliance with national guidelines alongside a group of trusted professionals including lawyers, judicial scriveners, and care managers, opened its Hiroshima branch on June 1, 2026. In recent years, there has been a nationwide increase in demand for "guarantor" and "family proxy" services, particularly among elderly people living alone or those who cannot rely on family members, leading to an increase in inquiries from the Chugoku region, centered on Hiroshima. Currently, the number of elderly people living alone in Japan is approximately 8 million, and it is estimated to reach about 10.8 million by 2050. As the number of people who are anxious about hospitalizations, facility admissions, and emergency responses due to the lack of family or reliable relatives increases, the demand for guarantor services is rising year by year. Against this backdrop, the company has opened a new base in Hiroshima, a core city in the Chugoku region, to build a more community-based support system. A guarantor is an essential presence for elderly people living alone, supporting debt guarantees during hospitalizations or facility admissions, emergency responses, and the retrieval of remains. Lifelong support (guarantor service) includes not only acting as a guarantor for hospital or facility admissions on behalf of the family, but also regularly contacting the individual to check their health status, and handling funeral, burial, and administrative procedures after their passing. At the Hiroshima branch, similar to the Osaka, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Nagoya headquarters, the company will provide guarantor services, monitoring and asset management services, post-mortem administrative services, and support in collaboration with experts such as those for will creation.
