AirX Inc. Selected as a Joint Operator for Hyogo Prefecture's "Flying Car Commercialization Preparation Project"

AirX Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kiwami Tezuka; hereinafter referred to as AirX), along with MASC Corporation (representative operator), Kensetsu Gijutsu Kenkyusho Co., Ltd., and Nippon Airport Consultants, Inc., applied for Hyogo Prefecture's subsidy project "Flying Car Commercialization Preparation Project" (hereinafter referred to as the Project). We are pleased to announce that we have been selected as a joint operator for the following two projects aiming for practical implementation.

・Project ➊: Commercial Operation Realization Road to 2029 Project

・Project ➋: Harima Region/Himeji City Base Formation Project

AirX will participate in this project, aiming to commence commercial operations within Hyogo Prefecture in fiscal year 2029, by collaborating with 6 joint and cooperating companies, leveraging their respective expertise. We will accelerate our efforts towards the practical implementation and commercialization of flying cars for social implementation.

Background

"Flying cars" are expected to contribute to solving social issues such as alleviating urban traffic congestion, reducing environmental impact, and securing transportation for areas with limited mobility, as next-generation mobility featuring "electric power," "autonomous flight," and "vertical takeoff and landing."

Through the utilization of such mobility, we aim to build a society by the 2030s where more free and active air travel is realized, connecting the Kansai and Setouchi areas with "sky corridors." Hyogo Prefecture has been accepting applications since fiscal year 2026 for initiatives directly related to implementation within the prefecture, aiming for the early realization of commercial operations.

Overview of Selected Projects

Project ➊ "Commercial Operation Realization Road to 2029 Project"

Implementation Location: Awaji Island

Project Objective: To conduct preparation activities for commercialization, including operational and maintenance systems, towards the commencement of commercial operations in fiscal year 2029.

・Preparation of a business plan for application for an air transport business permit from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

・Development of operational manuals, etc.

・Verification of safe operations

Project ➋ "Harima Region/Himeji City Base Formation Project"

Implementation Location: Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture

Project Objective: To select candidate locations for flying car vertiports in the Harima region and Himeji City. Additionally, to contribute to improving regional acceptance.
