## Background of this Initiative
In the Japanese manufacturing industry, the context of design decision-making, such as the background of design judgments and the history of defect countermeasures, is being rapidly lost without proper organization due to the accelerating retirement of skilled designers. The quality of technical documents varies, context information is scattered across meeting minutes, emails, and various files, and multimodal data essential for technical documents—such as images, drawings, and 3D CAD data—cannot be fully utilized by conventional text-centric AI technologies.
This knowledge loss accompanying the retirement of skilled designers manifests as a decline in design quality, an increase in defects, longer development lead times, and a disruption in technology transfer, becoming a management issue directly linked to the competitiveness of the entire manufacturing industry.
GENIAC, promoted by NEDO, is a project that supports research and development to transform such manufacturing data into an 'AI-Ready' state—that is, not merely digitized, but with its variations in format, granularity, and quality organized, allowing AI to directly interpret and stably use it as input for search and document generation. From 36 applications in this public call, a total of 9 were selected as prospective implementation partners, and AIONA will participate as one of them.
AIONA has been developing and providing AI agents that promote the automation of design work in the manufacturing industry, directly addressing structural issues such as the personalization of design tasks and the insufficient accumulation and utilization of knowledge. In this project, based on the technology and on-site knowledge cultivated so far, AIONA will collaborate with five major domestic manufacturing companies from different industries to engage in R&D and practical evaluation of methods using their actual data.

In this R&D, we will integrally develop methods for structuring context information scattered on the design floor and converting multimodal data such as images, 2D drawings, and 3D CAD data into formats that AI can handle. The validation will be conducted using actual data from five major domestic manufacturing companies in different industries, aiming to establish a versatile AI-Readying process that does not depend on a specific company or industry.
